Oceans and Empires: Wrong trade info

When playing Oceans and Empires you can get wrong trade info

Sometimes I go around trading and when I try to buy or sell a commodity, I get a message that says: " Wrong Trade Info" and I can't sell the or buy. I thought that maybe it was a bug, so I checked the Joycity forums but there was no info.

I tried a bunch of things like restarting the game, but I didn't work. I had to load the game on my phone (I play mostly on the PC btw) and that worked.

After much more trading I realized that it isn't a bug. In fact, it really means that the trade price you have on your screen is no longer valid because either:

A) Someone bought or sold while you were looking at prices and that made the prices change

or

B) The city either produced or consumed a good that changed the prices.

I found that to fix the wrong trade info problem, you need to exit the buy or sell screen and return to it and this usually solves the issue as it updates the info on the page. This may not work all the time since this game is still very alpha and sometimes it doesn't update the info.

This has been my solution for the Oceans and Empires wrong info trade issue.

Oceans and Empires trading: 4 Quick tips for profitable trading

How to trade efficiently in Oceans and Empire

1)If you are new to an area, using the best route function can get you started. Keep in mind, shorter trips are better. Also start learning what sells in your area.

2)More expensive goods will yield better profits. The only exception to this is if you cannot max out your carrying capacity with the amount of cash you have on hand. Then pick a good that is less expensive.

High end trading goods:

- Pottery
- Pictures
- Pearls
- Statues
- Ivory

Good profit earners:

- Copper
- Oak
- Marble
- Any of the animals
- Materials like rubber and solk

Good starter product to be avoided later:

- Foods
- Tea

3) Shorter trade runs make more money. This is in part because of how the system plays out the trading. Once your ship have sold the goods, they must return to your city for you to get the silver. Therefore less waiting.

If you can select a spot for your city, position yourself between 2 cities that have profitable and you will be trading very quickly. Ideally you want profitable trade runs both ways, but a one way trip is still viable.

4) Use the alliance trade info. Sharing and receiving trade info is a good tool if you are looking for a new spot. You can get accurate trade info for cities far away from your location.

These are the ways I have learnt how to do trading in Oceans and Empires and it has served me right. Using these practices with a single trade running oak from Veracruz to Cayenne, I managed to rank in the top 100 during my 1st trading event.

In the second trading event I had learned a few sneaky trick with which I ranked in the top 10.

Oceans and Empires is not an exceptions to this click-bait'ish behavior and they do a nice job of it. All of the characters have slight movement which enhances liveliness (if that's even a word) and is a nice touch IMO.
